During past days from America to Asia the cold temperatures, the show nd the storms suggest to create better conditions for family aminals.

Here some tips for creating a emergency kits.

- Bottled Water
This is a must for both you and your pet should you become stranded at home without power and/or undrinkable water. Keep several gallons in your basement or storage room, ensuring that you rotate your supply to keep a fresh supply when the need arises.

- Pet food
This is especially important for any prescription diets for a medical condition. Always have an extra bag or case of canned food around in case the roads become too treacherous for traveling.

- Warm Bedding
Keep plenty of soft, warm bedding for you and your pet both in your home and in your car. In the event that you lose heat in your home due to the weather, these additional blankets will come in handy and work as a short term solution to keep your entire family safe.

- Medications
If your pet takes regular medications, make sure that you have at least a week’s supply on hand. Waiting until the last minute could coincide with a winter storm, making it impossible to pick-up your pet’s supply.

- Litter
Keep an extra bag on hand in the event you get snowed in. In the winter keeping this 20 pound extra bag in the trunk of your car could be handy for you as well. The additional weight may aid in the traction of your tires when the roads are slippery, and can also help you get back on the road if you should happen to slide off. Just spread the litter on the icy ground to help you get back home.

- Carrier/Crate
Storms often can frighten cats and dog, and offering a familiar enclosure will give them a secure feeling, besides making it easier for you to locate them as opposed to them hiding from you.

- First Aid Kit
You can pick up a pre-packaged kit almost anywhere now. You can easily create your own too, make sure it includes extra towels, pads and bandages, along with pet approved ointments or general medications that could be helpful for minor injuries.
