Planting a garden can be carefully thought out, so the gardener will be precise with where he or she plants, for example garden shrubs may be planted to the back of a bed, as a backdrop to the smaller garden plants, and what makes a wonderful show is planting bedding plants right in the front of a bed, thus you will achieve a wonderful display without losing sight of any single bloom.
Whatever type of gardener you are, satisfaction and pleasure comes with either planting carefully, or just ‘chuck in and see’. Again gardeners and gardens are all different some might like to plant garden seeds, and nurture to plug plants, or some may like to take the ‘instant’ route and plant plug plants straight away, for a more mature look, and a good head start.
June has come upon us all so quickly, a month that really does take it the words of the famous song ‘June is busting out all over’ things are well and truly happening in the garden and some plants will be begging to be deadheaded, while perennial plants are little attention seekers, and if you want your plants to perform week after week, armed with your pruners, get out there and pinch, prune, and deadhead.
Pruning is so important, if we were never to prune the plants they will begin setting fewer and fewer flower buds, thus if they never get pruned at all, the branches get old and woody, this is especially true with shrubs, but bear in mind after a spectacular flowering one year they may have a much more modest blooming the following year, even plants need time to rest and recover.
Outside decking is making a huge comeback as outdoor living spaces, what better than to place container plants, dotted around this area, and the containers could be made up of almost any garden bulb, or bedding plants, or why not have a wonderful show of sweet smelling lavender plants, bedding plants of course make wonderful hanging basket plants.
Beautiful gardens are a vision to behold, but we have to eat, and what better than your own produce fresh from the garden to the table, a huge amount of people will plant some vegetable plants, in between flowers, especially if they have a small garden but at the same time want to be self sufficient.
