Consumers benefit from Champagne price war

What is happening to the price of Champagne at the moment? It is normal for the supermarkets to be discounting generic, big brand champagnes at this time of year, but now the independent wine merchants are playing the same game with some impressive offers on champagne from the high quality, family run brands.

One of the wine merchants leading the charge is Corks Out, recently named the IWC Large Independent Retailer of 2011. They have a number of special champagne offers as part of their Christmas Champagne Sale, some of which are truly impressive…

We’ll start with Laurent Perrier offers, of which the LP Rose is possibly the best. It is being sold in an elegant pink gift box for a bargain price of £36.49. One note of caution, when looking around on the internet make sure you know whether the price includes this gift box or not. In the case of Corks Out, it does, and as far as we can see this is the cheapest Laurent Perrier champagne around as well. That is a great win win! Also from LP Champagne, they have a great offer on the Laurent Perrier Brut which at £24.75 is another bargain price.

Next up in our list of great champagne offers is the Pol Roger. Corks Out have a couple of offers on for Pol, the best of which is the Brut Reserve which is being sold in a presentation box for £26.95. Again, as far as we can see this is the cheapest Pol Roger Reserve price online in the UK at the time of writing. Other good offers in the Pol Roger stable include the 2000 Vintage Champagne at £42.50, and should you want something really special for Christmas, the Sir WInston Churchill 1999 cuvee at £99.95.

Finally, that most famous of champagne brands, Bollinger Champagne is on sale at a discounted price of £30.99 a bottle, which is another remarkably cheap price.

So is this as good as it gets? With the economy being so unstable and the retail sector being so weak, it seems to us that there is no guarantee that these prices are going to be maintained for long, or indeed, if they are likely to be repeated again anytime soon. So I for one, am filling my boots…cheers!
