Greco di Tufo, the history of Irpinia

Feudi San Gregorio produces here a wonderful wine with appreciable fruity essences and the typical mineral structure

by Ernesto Vania

The history of Irpinia is the tale of a continuous fight between nature and man, an unwelcoming land and individuals forced to start each time from zero. Earthquakes and famine, impassable streets and inaccessible sites, the complete isolation that will keep a land on the fringe of events, trades and cultural influences. An unequal struggle, that the Irpinian man, as Prometeo, is aware of losing from the start, but which he won’t give up. In fact isolation is a source of unexplored fields and intact resources, too.
Feudi San Gregorio is confronted with the difficulty of continuously facing this harsh and often cruel nature, capable, in a moment, of deleting monuments, paths, vineyards. On the other hand, the company has the advantage of watching our land’s other side closely, enjoying the feeling of hope and the unique sceneries and the uncontaminated sites and aims to keep the friendly nature of Irpinia alive by discovering and appreciating our shared identity; a way of feeling and being, which reveals itself even through the desire of creating a good glass of wine.
