Apple is a powerful aphrodisiac for young women

Instead than wine, chocolate or chili pepper Italian researchers discovered a regular daily apple intake can boost sexual pleasure in healthy women. The scientists surmised the higher satisfaction may be thanks to the compound phloridzin, present in apples, , stimulating blood flow to the vagina

Even if some evidence exists of a positive correlation between the intake of phytoestrogens, polyfenols and antioxidant and women's sexual health, there is not a study addressing the potential correlation between daily apple consumption and women sexual function.

A study, published in the Archives of Gynecology and Obstetrics, looked at the sex lives of 731 Italian women and found those who ate between one and two apples a day had better sex lives.

The women, aged 18 to 43, were separated into two sections: one group who never ate apples and another that munched between one and two apples a day.

Each group was also instructed to complete a Female Sexual Function Index, which lists 19 questions about the study participants' sexual activities and overall satisfaction.

Researchers found that eating an apple a day was linked with higher FSFI scores, suggesting it increased their sexual pleasure.

One reason researchers pointed to was that apples contain polyphenols and antioxidants, like red wine and chocolate, which can stimulate blood flow to the genitalia and vagina, boosting arousal.

Apples are also high in phloridzin, which is structurally similar to the female sex hormone estradiol, which plays a huge role in vaginal lubrication and female sexuality.

“This study suggests a potential relationship between regular daily apple consumption and better sexuality in our young women population,” the researchers conclude.

Scientists have also found the fruit may lower blood fat levels in postmenopausal women (cutting the risk of heart attacks and strokes), and eating the fruit can also help lower cholesterol levels. Eating one also helps achieve a whiter smile by producing more saliva to reduce teeth decay. It can detox your liver by clearing toxins with fruits, and one study found women who ate an apple a day decreased their risk of diabetes by 28%.
