Luckily you have a family that can afford it. A funny story by Gianrico Carofiglio
(…) “You have to eat the meat, my son. You are too thin! You have to eat meat every day, since you have a family that luckily can afford it. Cosimo was already 70 Kg at your age”, said donna Angelina.
Her arguments were pretty unconvincing, actually. Cosimo was the younger brother of aunt Agnese: at the time he was around thirty but already a wreck. He was a gasping fatso, able to gulp down astonishing amounts of food and in particular every kind of roasted meats dripping lethal fats. He was clearly trained by his mother to achieve so much. He used to eat, drink and smoke with impressive suicide obstinacy. Not surprisingly he got a heart attack at forty. He is miraculously alive and now he lives taking ten pills a day and eating plain rice and boiled cod. Now donna Angelina is not here anymore and she luckily doesn’t have to see her little Cosimo deprived of his five portions of pork sausages per week (…)
