The poet Giampiero Neri, great observer and bard of nature, discusses about the intelligence of dogs
There is much to say about the patience of animals. It is evident that it is a part of their behavior. They stay still for hours, if necessary, without caring of anything else. Unfortunately, our observation is limited to the animals that frequent our houses, such as dogs, cats and relatives.
As for their tenderness and their intuition, there are countless incredible cases. More elusive is their intelligence, which counts many enthusiastic supporters. “You know”, once told me my neighbor, extolling the cleverness of his dog, a blend of many races that was not good for its height, “if dogs could talk, they would rule over us”.
