Why did you decide to make business in farming?
I was born and grown up in the countryside and I came back when I got married. In the farm I run with my husband, Poggiotondo, I take care of the olive-growing and I also deepened the relation between olive oil and health, because I work as an internist, and I created with a team of doctors and veterinaries a website, www.olioesalute.it, to make people know about the beneficial effects of the olive oil on the different organs and its importance in humans’ and animals’ diet.
Do you feel more a peasant, a farmer or a business man?
I love taking care of the land and make it produce following the nature cycles without polluting, damaging or impoverishing the ecological system.
If a peasant, or a farmer or a business man has the same opinion I definitely feel like him.
A definition of farming.
An activity with the aim of providing a primary need of the man, that one of feeding.
An adjective for defining the world of farming.
A keyword for the future of farming.
A model man.
Everybody who puts the nature in the middle of his universe.
Someone to… go to the hell.
There are many, the prototype could be “the technological man” that is to say the one who assumes to clear up all the problems only trusting in the advanced technologies.
A book concerning the rural world you’d suggest to read.
As you can imagine my rural readings are often oriented to olive-growing.
I would suggest to read a recent book called L’ulivo e l’olio (“The olive tree and olive oil”) by M. Pisante and others, with also the contribution of Giorgio Pannelli that is, for me, the biggest expert on olive-growing in Italy.
Your favorite book.
Siddharta by Hermann Hesse .
Your favorite song or composition.
“Samba della Rosa” performed by Vinicius de Moraes, Ornella Vanoni and Toquhino
Your unforgettable movie.
Playtime by Jacques Tati
What would you like to find after passing away?
I would like to be in a beautiful garden with white flowers and streams of clear water with my loves human and animals, where there is no time and no sorrow anymore..
