We want to improve the access of the Italian agrifood and agro-industrial products in Egypt and strengthen the Italian role as transit of the Egyptian agricultural products in the Europe Union. The 30 September and 1 October the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies will visit Cairo and Alexandria.
“We will work to give a new, strong impulse to the concretely carry out the cooperation agreements stipulated in agriculture and fisheries up to now with Egypt. We want to improve the access of the Italian agrifood and agro-industrial products in Egypt and strengthen the Italian role as transit of the Egyptian agricultural products in the Europe Union. This is done also through a better collaboration between the Italian and the Egyptian ports; I am thinking of Venice and Alexandria, last stop of what can become the freeway of the sea. I believe I will come back from Egypt with many innovations, for the enterprises and the universities and the research institutes, as well as for Italian agriculture and agrifood products”.
The 30 September and 1 October the Minister of agricultural food and forestry policies Luca Zaia will visit Cairo and Alexandria. The 30 September, accompanied by the Egyptian Minister of agriculture and land reclamation Amin Ahmed Mohammed Osman Abaza, Minister Zaia will meet the Egyptian Prime Minister Ahmed Nazif.
The same day, Minister Zaia will meet the Minister of transport Mohhamed Lotfy Mansur; his homologous Abaza and the Minister of Trade and Industry Rachid Mohamed Rachid.
The 1st October, Minister Zaia will move to Alexandria, where he will participate to the ceremony organized in the port for the official presentation of the cooperation program between Mazara del Vallo and the Egyptian Ministry of Agriculture. This will be followed by a combined press conference and the visit to six Italian fishing boats of the Sicilian Fisheries District.
“It is, Zaia declared, a precious occasion to confront with such an important partner like Egypt, also in the agricultural sector, and to strengthen the maritime cooperation, not only for trade purposes but also for research ones”.
