Oil: safeguarded a pillar of Italian agriculture



From now on a person buys a bottle olive oil will know exactly what they are buying, and nobody will be tricked by bottles with Italian sounding names that in reality contain oils of various origin; it will be sufficient to read the label, declared the minister Zaia commenting the modification, approved by olive oil management Committee of the European Commission, regarding the olive oil labelling.

“The mandatory labelling for olive oil is a great victory for the Italian agrifood, the consumers, and the producers. Europe has done right in protecting one of the pillars of the Italian agriculture.” Thus the Minister the modification of the Eu rule 1019/02, approved by olive oil management Committee of the European Commission, regarding the olive oil labelling.

“Thanks to the certainty of the origin of the product and to the work carried out by the Central Inspectorate for the quality control of the agrifood products, the Nac, the Forestry Corps and of the other police enforcements engaged in carrying out controls on the distribution and manufacturing chain, Zaia concluded, we will manage to relaunch this sector that is an important part of our Country’s agriculture”.
