This is “Conosci la montagna”, the initiative launched by the regional Province of Palermo in collaboration with the Italian Confederation of farmers and presented at the Cavour Hall of the Ministry of agriculture in Rome.

“The aim of this project is putting at the disposal the immense heritage of tradition, culture, history, and quality of the food production, that hinterland of the provincial territory possesses. A heritage that too often risks to finish in second place compared to international fame of the coastal area, explained Giovanni Avanti, president of the Province. We wished to put technical innovations at the service of the area’s resources, with the aim to create a tourist system that can involve the mountain and hill area.”

“This initiative, underlined Antonello Colosimo, the Head of Cabinet of the Ministry of agriculture, represents an impressive example of innovation, tradition, culture and quality, making the territory more approachable to its visitors.”

The project will be available from the second part of June, and will allow to all travelers arriving at the railway station, the seaport and the airport of Palermo to access, via web or smartphone, all useful information related to receptive structures, agricultural farms and restaurants located in the territory. There are suggested routes and also general and special information about all the Communalities involved in the project. “Conosci la montagna” is financed by the Regional Fund for the mountain.
