The national Committee for the protection of the designation of origin of wines, as recognised the Doc Prosecco and the Docg Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Colli Asolani.
" We had promised ultra-quick time for the protection of the Prosecco and we have kept our promise: thanks to the work carried out by the Work Ministry, the Wine Committee and the Regions Veneto and Friuli Venice Julia, already from the next grape harvest all the Prosecco will be protected at the Eu and international level as a Designation of protected origin. In this way we will finally have the chance to defend in a more effective way from imitations this wine that is one of the symbols of the made in Italy".
The Minister of food, forest and agricultural Policies Luca Zaia said today after the approval, by the national Committee for the protection of the designation of origin of wines, the acknowledgment of the Doc Prosecco and the Docg Conegliano Valdobbiadene and Colli Asolani.
" Still today, the Minister said, in the world only one product out of 10 of those defined as Italian really comes from our Country. It is necessary to fight this phenomenon by all means, it damages not only our producers, but also the image of the made in Italy: it is in fact worrisìng that bad quality products are on the market labelled as Italian products”.
“From now on, Zaia concluded, , the producers of Prosecco will have a further instrument to defend themselves from this kind of frauds, because whoever in the world bottles wine and calls it " Prosecco" from August will not be able to do it anymore".
