For some years we have been hearing more and more about the wines of terroir.
The terroir is the combination of geological, soil, micro/mesoclimate and environmental well as the ability of human resources, marketing and marketing that give the wine a unique territorial specificity, can not be reproduced elsewhere.

The rumors are somewhat conflicting some argue that it is the Vernaccia di San Gimignano, other Marsala, others Frascati .
The blog Vinoestoria seems to me that for clarification on the subject: the author makes reference to the DPR 930 of July 12, 1963 "Regulations for the protection of appellations of origin of musts and
wine" and the Presidential Decree of November 1, 1966 for the top four Italian Doc:Vernaccia di San Gimignano, Ischia Bianco and Rosso , L' Est! Est! East Montefiascone and Frascati. It would thus be a tie between these four Doc, but the publication in the Official Gazette of the following fall on different dates, the first in chronological order would be just the Vernaccia (OJ No . 110 , 6 May 1996) . He is then to win.
And Marsala? The site Marsaladoc, but also the site of ConsorzioVino Marsala speak of "First of the wines of Italy" and " First wine DOC in Italy", referring to the DM as a source of law October 15, 1931 on "Narrowing the production area of the typical wine of Marsala", a sort of forerunner of the name Doc.
According to my interpretation, if we speak of "proto- denominations" we can attribute the primacy of Marsala, but if we refer to the law of the national Doc there are no doubts about the Vernaccia di San Gimignano.
The most important thing that I want to emphasize is the health and the charm of these competitions and these disagreements.
Much better to speak of primates that are turbid and poisonous matters, such as fraud and counterfeiting, which to date with the legislation of the names and with the technical tools at our disposal we have dammed but not yet defeated.
In the past, it has not been so for thousands of years, we were talking about cheating and manipulation since the time of the Vinum Falernum to the times of ancient Rome Republican. The first examples of falsification were very "raw" (stretched wine with water), then the weapons of adulterated have been refined so that even a French writer in 1860 compared the wine merchants of Burgundy to God, having the miracles that are able to fulfill (La Rousse des vins, 2008).
