Fake Italian wine: perfect anti-counterfeiting operation

The control activities, still in progress, concern in particular Tuscany, Umbria, Lazio and Liguria and have already led to the seizure of more than 30,000 bottles of wine labeled as Brunello di Montalcino, Chianti DOCG and others

The Minister of Agricultural Food and Forestry Policies comments the first results of the operation carried out by the Carabinieri with the help of Nas and the Central Inspectorate for the Protection of Quality and Fraud Repression ( ICQRF ) that conducted chemical analyzes on wine and directly participated in the seizure operations.

"Team play in the fight against counterfeiting once again reveals to be the winning strategy to protect the excellence of our food heritage, of which wine is one of the main symbols. Italy is the first in Europe for controls in the sector: only in 2013 almost 130 thousand have been carried out. We must continue to work in this way with the utmost care to protect our products from all the illicit activities that harm the Made in Italy".
